Clariperu invites all clarinettists to participate in the first "Musical Marathon - Prize for Most Creative Interpretation" that will take place on the Internet, from January 10th to August 10th, 2007, an event that involves all instruments of the clarinet family. One of the main goals of this musical marathon is to motivate the performance of a non conventional work for solo clarinet, and to involve directly the visitors/listeners - as they will elect the three most interesting interpretations.

RULES AND CONDITIONS





A. Participants:


1.- 1.- The "Musical Marathon - Prize for Most Creative Interpretation" is open to all clarinettists of any age, sex or nationality.

2. - The participants can download "Convalecencia", the obligatory solo clarinet piece from this web site (
see point C). The score is available for free download as a PDF file.

B. Registration:


1.- This event is free. There are not registration payments, royalties or other payments involved.

2.- To be considered a participant, the following material is required from each candidate:

» Brief biography (personal data, nationality, studies, etc).
» A picture up to 500 kb of resolution.
» A recording of "Convalecencia" in MP3 format (more details in point C).
» Contact e-mail address.

3. These four conditions mentioned above should be sent to the following e-mail:

4.-The deadline to submit the material is July 10th, 2007. After this date no submitted material will be accepted under any circumstance.

C. About "Convalecencia":


1.- Each candidate must make a recording of "Convalescencia", a solo clarinet piece by Argentinean composer Juan María Solare. This score is available
HERE.

2.- "Convalecencia" must be between 3 and 5 minutes of duration.

3.- Candidates can record this solo piece using any instrument of the clarinet's family (piccolo, Bb, A, basset horn, bass clarinet, etc).

4.- The recording need not be necessarily professional, but recording quality may influence the jury's decision and that of the visitors.

5.- Each candidate must send ONE version of "Convalescencia" to the e-mail address of this event as an MP3 file, with the following characteristics:

» Mono
» 96 kbps minimum of compression.
» 128 kbps maximum of compression.


6.- We recommend using the free hosting services available on the Internet . The candidate should send us the corresponding link via our e-mail address previously mentioned. We suggest the following free hosting websites:

7.- Optionally, the candidates may send their submission (in any format) to the following post address:

8.- Upon Clariperu receiving the biography, photo and recording of the candidate, a message will be sent to his/her e-mail contact confirming his/her participation at the Musical Marathon.

D. Marathon Process:


1.- The participants' recordings will be published individually on this web site from January 10th to July 10th, in the order received.

2.- All the recordings will be available on Internet from January 10 th to August 10th, 2007.

3.- Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite recording. The daily voting total will be publicised, and the possibility to vote on line will be suspended in August 11, 2007. The three recordings that obtain the majority of votes will be declared winners.

4.- All the winners will be announced August 30th, 2007 on Clariperu's website and Blog. The winners will receive a notice by e-mail.

1.- "Prize for Most Creative Interpretation"
Given by Clariperu.

» 500 euros.

» Complete PDF clarinet work collection of composer Juan María Solare.
» Sheet clarinet music from Periferia Music (
list of works).
» His/her recording will be added to Clariperu's Discoteca.
» His/her recording will be broadcasted in the program "Poetry and Music of Latin America" by YAGE - Art, Science and Latin American Culture of Austria, in Radio Fabrik.
» His/her recording will be broadcasted in the program "La Casa de Euterpe" by Radio UJAT - Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, Mexico.


2. First Prize of the public
Given by Internet visitors and based on the quantity of votes.

» Winner title.
» 100 euros, special prize by YAGE.
» Vandoren reeds (strength number chosen by the winner).
» Hand made ligature (detail).
» Clarinet sheet music from Periferia Music (list of works).
» His/her recording will be available at Clariperu' Blog.
» His/her recording will be broadcasted in the program "Poetry and Music of Latin America" by YAGE - Art, Science and Latin American Culture of Austria, in Radio Fabrik.
» His/her recording will be broadcasted in the program "La Casa de Euterpe" by Radio UJAT - Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, Mexico.


3. Second Prize of the public
